K.Th. Dimaras, O rossanglogallos. Kritiki ekdosi me prolegomena

Athina 1999, Poreia

“The author expresses the diffuse indignation of Greeks against every kind of leaders and their disappointment from foreigners. It does not present any philosophy or any general perception of the world, either because it does not have one either because it is addressed to the people. Besides even if it is evaluated from an aesthetics point of view, it does not present any worthy elements: awkward verse, unformed language, minimum effort to build character; these are the features of his art.  As a testimony, however, precisely due to the absence of any personal element, I believe that satire is among the main texts for studying this time.” (pp. 46-57)
